DPM Wissanu: PM ready to engage in parliamentary debate

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Secretariat of the House of Representatives has informed the cabinet of a motion to hold a non-binding debate over an alleged incomplete oath of allegiance of the Prime Minister and Defense Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, with the Deputy Prime Minister, Prof. Dr. Wissanu Krea-ngam, assuring that the Prime Minister will personally handle the discussion and that a request for the Constitutional Court to review the issue will not impede state work.

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu said the administration is ready to answer any questions posed by the Constitutional Court concerning its incomplete oath-taking and added that the process will not impede its work. He declined to speculate on whether a royal inscription of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua would clear up the matter, saying only it had boosted the morale of the cabinet members.

On the parliamentary debate, the Deputy Prime Minister said Gen. Prayut will be present to address queries personally and assured he was not evading questions.

The Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, Tewan Lipatapanlop, as coordinator of the government whip and the parliament, said a meeting will take place on September 2, 2019, to discuss the debate, and greater clarity will follow the date.

The Secretary-General of the House of Representatives, Sorasak Pienvej, made known a memorandum has been dispatched to inform the cabinet of the motion for the debate, and the administration can now indicate its most convenient date. Mr. Sorasak said it is within the cabinet’s rights to delay the debate until after the parliament concludes in November. He acknowledged the House Speaker’s wish to have the debate scheduled during this session.

I don't understand what all the fuss is about, can't he just repeat the oath and be done with it?

Maybe there's more to this situation than you would think.....

So the issue will be sorted by a player of the highest order.

We need to ask who instructed him not to relay the entire oath....

Possibly, he can do what he likes, no one can do anything to stop him.

He can look a  complete tool to the World he can do anything he wants, does not even need to be bothered by following the Constitution as all checks and balances are under his backers control (and they would be to spineless to disobey or have the ethics to resign).

It seems to be coming clearer and clearer that this Government is just a proxy, and they both enjoy a symbiotic relationship and reap lots of lovely rewards. If Prayuth falters or backs off Apirat is groomed to take over. Prayuth is just a blindly faithful simpleton.

I prefer his tantrums to his endless droning on and on...

he ready to engage as they have the fix planned by the highest ranking card .
bunch of weasels, can see why they so chummy with suthep, exact same clan of cheats and liars

Intriguing. He being set up for something. He could have given the royal endorsement to repeat the oath but instead got a morale booster. The constitution court will have no other avenue but rule this clear cut omission and failure to complete the oath as a violation. It is curtains for Prayut. He wouldn't be missed.

He'll wriggle out of this with his minders at his side.

Please make up a sentence with;-                        ...... 'pram'......'spit'......'dummy'.....in it!!????????????????????

Right: I just read in the first sentence that this will be a 'non-binding' debate. I stopped reading any further.

Whatever is proven, whatever is demonstrated, whatever blame is highlighted and excoriated by the Opposition - it will count for nothing. No consequences (well, of course not - because everything has now been OK'ed ...).

'The Constitution is the law - the supreme and highest law of the land'.

But don't worry.

Its edicts are 'non-binding'.

Pathetic!
