Retirement changing to caring for a Thai -

Recommended Posts

If I sell my gold, I have no problem putting 800k in the bank.  I may not wish to sell my gold in time for my extension next year.  I do have at least 400k now in the Thai bank.

As I read the Thai law that was posted here, there is no seasoning requirement for the 400k if I apply for the extension based on taking care of my Thai son.  I am his father, I am on his birth certificate, and I am legally married but separated from my Thai wife, who is his mother.

So what is the real situation with doing this at Chaeng Wattana?  I've heard the stories here where they deviate from their own law.

What can I expect?

I can provide:

  • Son's birth certificate.
  • Son's Thai ID
  • Son's Thai Passport
  • Son's enrollment in school.
  • Thai Marriage Certificate.
  • My Passport
  • My original OA visa now expired.
  • My current extension based on retirement.
  • Bank book with 400k
  • Letter from bank verifying 400k
  • My current lease.
  • TM30 from my Landlord providing I don't go anywhere between now and then.

Am I missing anything?  Hell, on a whim, I can even present my son.

You can expect everything no logic in Thailand

But good luck to you and your son

I just get kicked out of Thailand

Even the Thais aren't stupid enough to kick out a father responsible for taking care of his boy.  His mother can't provide for him.

If they even went there, I would use the Thai media.  They love stories like that.

Throw oatmeal on his face, let it dry, teach him how to look really sad, and let him wear clothes I would normally wash.  Voila! Instant Thai viral sensation.
