Thai Travel Around Europe

Featured Replies

My wife was granted the 2 year spouse visa yeasterday and will be joining me soon.

I want to spend the summer travelling around Europe, mainly weekend breaks, last minute hols etc to show her Europe.

What countries in Europe require visas? Or do you know where I can get this info please

Thanks

Simon

I presume your wife is Thai. You haven't said where you are from. If it is from a mainland european country then there is an agreement for visa-free travel from within those countries.

The bad news is that the UK is not in that agreement. You have to apply for a visa from one of those countries, then it will allow you to travel.

The visa is a Schengen visa - you can google or search on the forum for more info . Different countries can be easier to get a visa from than others. I think France is hard, so people that visit France often apply for a spanish visa!

As she will be resident in the UK, they all do but a Schengen Visa will cover most of the popular weekend holiday countries. You can get single or multiple entry visas but most EU embassies in UK require an appointment to make an application these days.

The good news is that a Schengen visa is free to the spouse of a UK Citizen (so take your marriage certificate and your passport to prove your UK status)
