Lost Thai Driver's License

Recommended Posts

well ... just go to your transportation department where you did the license with the necessary proofs of identity.

they'll have everything on record I guess

i figured as much, but i was wondering if i needed to get another certificate of residence letter from immigration.
except you bought the license at khao san.

actually in a sense i 'bought' mine for 105 baht....but it was in chiang mai.

you must have me confused with someone else.

i seem to have lost my thai driver's license.

if this has happened to you, what steps did you follow to get a replacement.

thanks.

When I lost mine I also had to produce a letter from the Police confirming that I had reported the loss. I didn't believe that mine had been stolen - though it could have been - but the Police simply recorded the loss and gave me a letter.

Incidentally, the interesting part was that when I went to the Police Station - Beach Road, Pattaya - a policeman recorded my statement on computer, in English, and printed it out. Then he handed the printed report to me and directed me to another office. There, another policeman got out a report book, with carbon paper, and slowly and laboriously transferred the nice printed details into the book in a pretty scrawly manuscript. When he had finished he tore up the printed page and handed me a carbon copy of scrawl that he had prepared.

However, it was what the licence people wanted and I got my replacement licence without further difficulty.

Incidentally (number two) my original licence turned up a year later - posted to me in an unmarked envelope without any hint as to the sender!
