Ex-park chief Chaiwat says “Charge me alone”

Former chief of Kaeng Krachan national park, Mr. Chaiwat Limlikhit-aksorn, said today (Thursday) that he is ready to face charges from the Department of Special Investigation for alleged involvement in the disappearance of Karen activist Polajee “Billy” Rakchongcharoen five years ago.

“People are focusing on me. They can charge me, me alone. I can stand it, I can stand being imprisoned, but not three of my men. Don’t drag them into being involved,” said Mr. Chaiwat in an interview with Thai PBS this morning.

Billy was arrested by Kaeng Krachan park officials, led by Chaiwat, on April 17th, 2017 for allegedly illegally collecting wild honey in the park. Mr. Chaiwat later claimed, however, that the human rights defender had been freed on the same day.

Umm Chaiwat you dont get to dictate who can do what in real life. Maybe in your pampered life where everyone is expected to grovel at your feet you may do, but thats not normal life.

Bet this guy will not enjoy prison. (I realize there is less than 0% chance of him ever seeing a cell unless) Perhaps though he does not know enough or someone high enough to prevent himself being thrown to the wolfs for appearences sake.

He is willing to take the rap for those from higher up who ordered the killing, no doubt being paid off very well in the process.

Lets hope he gets thrown to the wolves... even if its just to safe face.

So he's pleading guilty to Billy's death,or just daring the DSI to charge him,

knowing there is no or very little evidence .

I believe him...don't you?   ????

If all they have is the body and the fact that he was last seen with him and his men then its all circumstantial not sure they could get a conviction. I hope they have more and can get some justice for this guy.

Or is he being intimidated and ordered by someone to speak like this?

Why would they consider to charge only him, when he actually at the same time admitted he is a fountain of knowledge regarding what happened?

That must have been one fat envelope

If Chaiwat would be charged alone, it would prevent the other witnesses to speak out what happened, which will only provide an incomplete picture of the incident. Besides, there would not be enough evidence to implicate Chaiwat in the murder. I suppose, the authorities will follow his advice.

He disappeared 5 years ago but was arrested about 2 years ago?

Unless they arrest and squeeze his three cohorts (the ones he doesn't want charged) for more damning evidence :whistling:
