Aisawan Resort & Spa

Featured Replies

Hello to you all a newbie here

Where to start? Me & my wife have our first holiday to Thailand booked for May, beginning with 3 nights in Bangkok followed by 13 nights in the Dusit resort. Unfortunately, we have been informed that the Dusit intends to carry out refurbishment work starting in May & so we are a little concerned & wondering whether to swap hotels.

We have been looking at th Aisawan resort, which in the brochure looks a nice place, but i was wondering, are there any local bars/ restaurants to walk to around this area or is it a little far out? it appears to be about 1.5km further up the coast than the Dusit - is this the case? Any help or further advice would be much appreciated

many Thanks

Before you change from the highly regarded Dusit Hotel I would enquire exactly what works are being undertaken there. Its quite a large hotel as you can probably gather from the aerial shots so you may well find that you would not be disturbed at all. The Aisawan is as you point out further along and a bit more off the beaten track.

We stayed at the Aisawan for 7 days last April, and even though it was a pretty nice hotel, I must admit that the Dusit looked far superior and is in a much better postion.

There are bars around the Aisawan....many of them Russian, in fact about a third of the guests there were russians which we found quite suprising, but if you want to stroll along the beach road or towards walking street you will need to jump on a tuk tuk.

If the building work is not excessive at the Dusit I would suggest you stay there.

Hope that helps !

Thanks for the replies so far. Unfortunately the Dusit hasn't replied to my email asking whats going on and where.

The work being done sounds quite extensive i.e., refurbishment of 2nd floor rooms, refurbishment of 2 restaurants (they have 3), the conference room, the atrium & waterfall & the reception. This sounds fairly extensive and is scheduled to be carried out between May & Oct, although i don't know which bit is when. We are going in May so would hope it might not be too bad, especially with it being a 5 star place, but that much worl makes me nervous.

Decisions, decisions....is the Dusit really that much nicer than the Aisawan?

I seem to remember that the dusit was about double the price of the Aisawan, which we booked very reasonably through asiarooms.

Dont get me wrong, it was a good 3/4 star hotel (very average breakfast but a couple of good beach bars next door) but we noticed how the Dusit stood out as looking like the best hotel in the area.
