The website for the job states," US$600 per month in salary in the first year, and $700 per month in the second year."

'nuff said, it really isn't an "international school" as it doesn't pay international school wages or under international school terms. Don't be fooled. The reason why they post is here is probably that they can't find qualified staff anywhere else for the wages they offer. The terms are worse even than Thailand's poorly paying schools offer to unqualified teachers with fake degrees from KSR. Nice website though.

Quote from the website:

The Employer has decided to err on the side of generosity when it comes to salaries and benefits, especially when one considers that the school's clientele are local families from Yangon. In dollars or pounds, salaries are about the same as, or even a little higher than in neighboring Thailand, which has a considerably higher cost of living.

Regular contracts are for a term of just under two years, with an option to leave on good terms after 11 months. For teachers, salary and bonuses will total about US$800 per month, averaged over two years. When roundtrip flights and free housing (calculated at local costs +/- $200/ month) are factored in, the compensation package tops US$1,100 per month. The Academic Director will be offered up to 50% more. Teachers should be able to save between half and two thirds of their salaries each month. Here is a summary of salary and benefits for teachers:

No offense but 'local families' in Bangkok have no problems spending between 400.000 and 900.000 baht on tuition fees per child. The misleading information in this add (The Employer has decided to err on the side of generosity when it comes to salaries and benefits, makes me wonder about management. The director will earn less than a qualified teacher in Bangkok, not considering the one week Tefl degree 'experts' that roam the streets for peanuts in Bangkok.

Another issue, accredited international schools recruit through channels and this agency is not one of these channels... a bad sign....

Dutchy :o
