Hit and run motorcyclist gives himself up

6pmb.jpg

A motorcyclist who left a 10 year year old girl in hospital after hitting her going the wrong way down a street in Bang Plee has given himself up to police.

The schoolgirl was hospitalized with stomach injuries after she was hit crossing the road.

Anuchit, 22, decided to give himself up after realizing he had become infamous on social media.

He said he fled in a panic and explained that the bike belonged to his mate's brother.

Bang Sao Thong police have charged him with negligent driving causing injury.

Anuchit has visited the victim in hospital and promised to pay her medical bills.

"Anuchit, 22, decided to give himself up after realizing he had become infamous on social media."

No genuine remorse being shown here. Covering his butt because cctv caught him.

Hope he gets banged up (or beaten up) for his actions. Chicken.

What a pathetic low life, only gave himself up because he was caught on camera.

Now then you have been a naughty boy, 500 baht, and dont do it again.

Now, I agree that his actions were utterly despicable in the first instance. He has probably only given himself up, as he knows it was a matter of time before he was caught anyway. I am going though to give him a slight thumbs up, for admitting his guilt and paying for the hospital bills voluntarily. I do though hope that he gets well slapped for the negligent driving charge, because a petty fine will not discourage others from driving poorly and doing a runner too.

He Better show up, he knows he will be arrested later on.

To be fair, he said he would promise to pay the hospital bills. A promise from a man who goes the wrong way down the road hitting a young girl and then runs off is a promise to be very skeptical about.

And not charged for riding the wrong way.

What about the other riders on the clip?

Police seem indifferent to this dangerous and illegal habit.

Throw the book at this piece of total and utter scum.

He offered to pay her bills, rather he's trying to pay his way out of it.. taking a leaf out of the 'Playbook of the wealthy'....

Make him and others like him understand that this behavior is unacceptable.

Unfortunately, I forgot where I am... 500b fine and a wai, we'll see in the news the same as$-hat doing the same thing again... (watch this space).

What about leaving the scene of an accident, is that not an offence in Thailand?

what book is that?  probably a note pad with nothing on it...

Why is the face of a 10 year old child being shown in public like this. Media outlets know this is illegal, they have no shame, no morals, no ethics.

not mentioned I certainly hope the police were quickly involved and will prosecute the bike rider. Wonder how old he is and whether he has a license.?

Another example of the police being derelict their duties to not, decades ago, stamp out such illegal activities.

Above all I wish the young lady a speedy and full recovery and hope she gets some proper love and care to help put this behind her.

Poor girl did everything right, waited for traffic to clear and got plowed over by this idiot going the wrong way. It is such a shame that motorcycles apparently are not subject to laws of the road in Thailand. They are driving on the wrong side of the road in droves. I've watched them go right past the bib and never stopped. Can anybody please tell me why MC's are free to drive anywhere they want, whenever they want. Drive on the expressways where they are banned, drive the wrong way, go right through red lights at their own will. Bet no tickets are issued by the red light cams to motorcycles! Wishing the poor young lady a fast and complete recovery!

Give the girl his motorcycle. Then put him in a prison work program where he cleans out canals and the Bangkok sewage systems for a year. One year of city poop cleaning should be enough.

I'm sure he has it in his mind a 500 baht fine and a plastic doll from 7/11 will make up for it

Agreed.  Possible he ran off to sober up first.

Long way between a promise to pay the medical bills and actually paying them. He hasn't enough money to have his own bike, brother must not have either, and doesn't have his own friends to borrow a bike from. How can media show the victims face but not the perps? Hope her internals heal properly, terrible experience.

No

Whether something is illegal or not has absolutely no relevance in Thailand.

I think he deserves  some  kudos. From the initial reporting he was legally wrong  in every sense. But  despite cctv or  any other  cause  to front up  is contrary to the  usual complete  denial even if he  has  been advised  that  he  faces  more  than a medical  bill.

I wish  him well  not  more but  not less than the  young girl victim.

"promised to pay her medical bills"

If the young girl was in a Government Hospital, I thought treatment was free!

Wrong;

it is an offense .

Which side of the road to take continues to be optional. If Thailand is serious about traffic laws, they must confiscate any and every vehicle doing this!

No need to be so pedantic, I was generalising about what the traffic law says, the police enforce and what the public follow.

I just come back from Prachuap Khiri Khan with my truck;

About 95% of thai drivers overpassed me while driving at the maximum speed allowed.

It's their problem and their wallet ..

Saw many road accidents because thai drivers do not know how to respect the safety distances between two vehicles;

did 2,000 km with 120 liters of gasoil = 6l/100

Isuzu 3,000cc and automatic gear.
