Retirement Funds

Featured Replies

Hi all

I am moving to Thailand next month on a Non Resident "O" visa.

I turn 50 in June, so will then apply for a Retirement visa.

I know i must show Baht 800,000, but does this amount have to be in a Thai bank account,

or can it be invested elsewhere.

My "nest egg" will be sitting offshore somewhere, and i would like to leave it there.

Would it be okay to show a letter or bank statement to prove i have enough funds

available to me even though they might not be in Thailand.

If you are applying for an extension based on retirement in Thailand, the 800K must be IN Thailand. Assuming you are qualifying based on bank account only and not pension.
