People have given the government a score of 5.61 out of 10 on management of the recent floods, but praised “Bin Bunluerit” as a hero, according to a survey.

Bangkok Poll conducted by the Bangkok University Research Centre surveyed 1,189 people across the country from September 24-26 on “The Lessons of the 2019 Flood Crisis”.

The respondents gave the government 5.81 points out of 10 on communicating and understanding flood victims’ needs, and 5.45 points for allocation of flood donations and management.

When asked what was highlighted the most by the flood crisis, 80.7 per cent said the situation created unity and a spirit of helping each other in society. About 64 per cent agreed that the situation created a "Hero Bunlurit" while 20 per cent believed there was corruption during this crisis.

Bin Bunluerit, a well-known volunteer rescue worker and actor, who chairs the Ruam Katanyu Foundation, raised more than Bt100 million in under two days to help flood victims in Ubon Ratchathani province.

I guess they stopped asking the corruption question after they interviewed the first 237 people.
