Kobsak

The council of economic ministers will meet on October 7 to discuss the current economic situation and also seek solutions for obstacles facing the tourism industry, Kobsak Pootrakool, deputy secretary-general to the prime minister for political affairs, said.

The ministers will also discuss the country’s export situation, he added.

The Commerce Ministry will present the latest export report to the meeting as well as the measures to boost exports for the rest of this year.

He added that the council wants to tackle all problems in the tourism sector, which is entering the high season.

The meeting will also focus on gross domestic product this year meeting the target of 3 per cent.

The next council meetings, scheduled for October 16 and November 1, will discuss ways to help small and medium-sized enterprises survive the economic difficulties and creative economy issues.

Looking forward to the latest hare-brained scheme...

Well if it's anything like the "use less joss sticks to prevent haze" idea recently, perhaps the suggestion regarding exports could well be 'export everything in smaller packages as the cost will appear less each time'.

No need for a meeting—as we all know what they will conclude: Not Thailand’s fault, blame trade wars, exports will improve in Q4...

And BTW, just keep that hot money flowing...

Discuss the strength of the Baht which is largely to blame.... tourism you can throw a few more factors into the mix!

Recalling that PM Prayut is chairman of the council depriving DPM for Economic Affairs Somkid of his leadership role, solutions will be Prayut's solutions. Given that under Prayut's five years of economic leadership wherein Thailand has become the state with the highest income inequality in the world, I wouldn't expect any innovation in seeking solutions.

Ministerial hare-brained schemes are the order of the day in Thailand.

Like the cashback scheme for Thai tourists where the computer crashed in the first few days which then prompted them to expand the scheme with millions more baht of free money to bona fide tourists and otherwise.
