how to find a computer tutor for a child?

I would be interested in finding a computer tutor (simple computer programming) for my child, who is 8 years old, who could come to my home in central bangkok.

Anyone have any advice about how to find this, or if you personally could be his tutor or introduce me to someone, I would be appreciative of hearing from you.

Thanks,

Ben

I should give some more details about what he can do and what he wants to learn.

He is currently able to do simple scripting in auto-it, a simple language for windows, using stuff like variables, InputBox to request user input, msgbox to display messages and variable values to the user, simple flow control using if-then. He has written, completely on his own, simple stuff like quiz games where the program asks the user the answer to a number of questions, and tells them how many they got correct. He has co-written more complex stuff with Dada's help. ???? He shows a good intuitive understanding of concepts like flow control, functions, variables, etc.

He has expressed an interest in "making my own Minecraft client", though I think that is aiming a bit high, and making a minecraft mod sounds like it would be more realistic. Perhaps if a teacher could basically set up the development environment and walk him through making a mod, it would be a good way for him to learn.

ok today he is talking about wanting to make an uno game, for two players, to play on the computer.

basically i think, any language would be ok... his general interest is in making stuff on the computer. he has new ideas for what to make all the time. i have been indulging his interest helping him make various things, but probably time to move this over to a tutor who can teach him real stuff like java and spend a couple hrs a week with h

There’s a fair amount you can learn on youtube

Yes indeed, and he is doing that. I think a tutor would really help him go a bit further though.

He watches tutorials on youtube (and on other web page, non-video tutorials) and I was surprised at how much he got done.

Nonetheless a human being to help organize him and bring him further than he can get by himself at this stage would be great.
