Thailand to demand proof of health insurance for 'risky' long-term visitors

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Foreigners in the “risky” over-50 age group will have to present proof of health insurance when applying for Thai long-term non-immigrant visas, a minister said on Wednesday, so the government doesn’t have to pick up their medical bills.

PHUKET: Airports of Thailand (AoT) at Phuket International Airport this year has paid more than B9 million to local residents as compensation for noise pollution and will spend a further B976.5mn to acquire land that is home to 82 houses where noise levels from passing aircraft exceed residential limits.

World Bank slashes Thailand’s GDP from 3.5 to 2.7 per cent

The World Bank has reduced its forecast for Thailand’s economic expansion in 2019 from 3.5 to 2.7 per cent, while 2020 speculation was also brought down to 2.9 per cent from the earlier figure of 3.5 per cent.
