webfact
There's gold - or something - in them thar Thai hills! Thai caption: Gold Rush! Villagers have been rushing to the construction site of a four lane road in Thailand's north east after some people claimed that gold had been discovered. Some children brought sparkly yellow coated rocks to a Buddhist affairs office and this sparked a gold rush in the Non Yang sub-district of Mukdahan. The discovery followed several days of blasting and digging at the site. Whether it is gold or some other mineral is uncertain - but villagers are flooding the area panning and searching for what they believe to be gold nuggets. spider1197
It is easy to see if it is gold or pyrite. Rub the specimen on a flat white rock. If it is pyrite it will leave a black streak and of course if it is gold the streak will be gold.
