webfact
Krabi video: All in a day's work for the snake catchers - 4 meter King Cobra in custody! A video posted on the Facebook site of Krabi Phitak Pracha showed the foundation's expert snake catchers retrieve a King Cobra. The 4 meter long, 15 kilogram snake had been hiding in a pipe and coming out to sun itself on the grass at a housing estate behind a shopping center. The locals who gathered to witness the "arrest" gave the foundation team a round of applause. They decided that the number 9 would come up in the next drawing of the lottery. Thai Rath said that such a snake made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up! Yesterday I have seen a 2019 documentary about snake catchers at a fire-brigade in Bangkok. Looked more professional than these guys... They store the snakes at the station, some for training purposes and when the cages get too full they drive them far away to some remote area in a national forest. The majority of snakes are pythons, poisonous snakes in the minority. (documentary is in German or French, PM if interested)
