well, according to all the forum comments I see, hardly anyone believes that this is a goal of the Thai Finance people. I also realize, that some powerful people must also not be in favor of this so the debate continues. If/when a new royal decree is published, I doubt it will be any clearer until it actually happens. -

O Retirement visa
Hi all, 1. Does monthly income of at least 65,000 THB have to be deposited into a Thai bank account? 2. If the answer to #1 is no, will interest income reflected on my US bank statements suffice? 3. Will US embassy be willing to issue an income letter? 4. I hear opening a Thai bank account could be challanging. If 65000 THB income option does not work out, how can open a bank account to deposit 800K THB? Thanks. -

The Op leaves out some important information. Like te fact that this 10b is 27b less than what was originally been ordered to pay in a previous court hearing. She expected that this appeal would cancel that. This is the highest court setting the fines now. She must pay it which is why she is whining about it. Surely there is information the average person do not know about that made all but the lower courts make her liable for such amounts. The lower courts that did nothing could have easily been controlled by the Thaksin family. These higher courts are not so easily ( or cheaply ) controlled.- 1
