Doctors And Their Diagnoses

I have seen doctors and hospitals in many countries over prescribe medicine. Mostly it has to do with peoples expectations, if they go to a doctor and he doesn't give them medicine, they are wasting their time with this doctor.

It's a cultural thing

Had a lot of bad experiences here.

One day I slipped in the bath and bruised my ribs.

Ok bring a Thai friend as I wanted to have some painkillers.

Docter prescribed me medice against Artrithis.

The worst part was that he gave me medicine that caused big and dangerous side effects when combined.

Yep I found out after 3 days.....

Last month when doing the annual medical check up the docter told me my blood pressure way too high (140-90).

Advised me to see a docter......

I asked, but you are a docter or not?

Friendly Thai smile given back.....

Alex

One poster said health care if free in the UK, but other than that we haven't heard from anyone other than the USA. Are there any other Europeans or Australians or Canadians here who want to talk about the healt care system in their home countries?

I'm currently paying €330 a month in Germany. I hear the health care's good, haven't sampled it yet as I've been waiting since last Nov. to get a minor operation and I've been bounced from one specialist to another for most of that time, plus I have to fork over another €10 for every different doctor I'm sent to. After calculating my yearly compulsory health cover, plus what I lose in earnings while waiting for hours in practices, I'm now considering paying the extra for private cover. Hope that answers your question. Can Thailand be worse than this?
