Brit, lost passport at airport. On 60 day TV, 5 weeks to go??

Recommended Posts

They might have the passport at the airport, if found it won't be thrown away.

Go to the airport and speak to the tourist police first.

Depending on where you're from you can get a new passport either very quickly from the embassy or for some places it can take up to 4 weeks - UK for example takes 3 or 4 weeks but you need to make sure you've covered for your stay on the visa stamp.

If you have a replacement passport, how would you be able to prove your Visa status for 60 days and not as a Visa Exempt entry?

Perhaps Immigration have a Digital Record of the Visa you arrived on and its expiry date?

I assume they have all this on their network, computer. Was hoping someone

would have few more details, especially time frame of the stations....Guesd will find out Monday. MS>

These days, as long as you have your old passport number, Immigration can find the record of your entry within seconds. Twenty years ago, this was a real problem, and you were directed to a room full of TM6 cards, told to find the one showing your entry.

Thank you. Not turned up yet at airport. Police report done, next steps Monday. Got only 6 weeks so not sure enough time to get from ????????. Probably need go emergency documentation. Thanks. MS>

Six weeks is usually plenty to get a replacement UK passport as long as you act promptly. However, if you do not expect to travel internationally for a while after returning from Thailand to the UK, an emergency passport may be good enough, and easier. Make sure you keep a copy of that lost passport police report safe. You will need it. Even after getting a replacement passport, keep a copy handy.

Average turn around on a replacement passport for straightforward cases is 10 working day (2 weeks) so plenty of time to sort it.

If that should fail you can still apply foa a last minute ETD (Emergency Travel Document) to return to the UK.

6 weeks is more than enough time, took 2 weeks to get my new passport from when i went to renew it.

I agree six weeks is enough time, but replacing a lost passport will probably take a bit longer than renewing an existing passport.
