DSI reveals its progress after the enforcement of the Special Investigation Act

Deputy Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) says DSI has more than 300 cases to be investigated.

DSI Deputy Director Tharit Phengdit (ธาริต เพ็งดิษฐ์) says during a DSI’s seminar in Phitsanulok Province that there are problems concerning DSI’s investigations into important cases. These cases have greatly affected the country’s economy, society, and national security. Most of which involve influential figures who use their power to obstruct the investigations.

The DSI’s seminar in Phitsanulok was arranged to hear opinions of relevant units on the improvement of the 2004 Special Investigation Act which has been in effect for three years.

As for the case of the missing lawyer Somchai Neelapaijit (สมชาย นีละไพจิตร), the deputy director says DSI needs more time to close the investigation of the case it has been cooperated with the Royal Thai Police. The deputy director-general also speaks of the progress of the missing lawyer’s case. He says DSI has done their utmost to work on it. However, DSI has yet to officially prove whether Mr Somchai is dead.
