Tourist visa after non-immigrant B at Vientiane

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've read a lot of stories about Vientiane and wanted to ask before making the trip. Does anyone know if I am likely to have a problem getting a 60-day tourist visa when I have been here most of this year on non-immigrant B visas? I've had two back to back non-B visas (work permit paperwork was not finished in time), one from my home country and the second from Vientiane. I also have a single visa exemption stamp from the land crossing at Mae Sai from earlier this year.

I've seen people saying Vientiane will not accept tourist visa applications at all for anyone who has spent a large amount of time in Thailand this year. Does that include non-B holders or just apply to repeat exemption/tourist visa holders?

I just finished a contract and would like to travel around the country so am a genuine tourist at the moment, but some of the Vientiane stories have me worried. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
