The lady at 1st Class Visa Runs told me that the IOs at Chanthaburi / Ban Pakard are charging 1,500 to 2,000 to cancel ED visas, and *this is regardless of whether you go to a local immigration office to cancel it in advance.* She said they know ED visa holders are mostly trying to stay in the country so that's why they feel content to do it. She said if I'm lucky the fee will be 1,500 from a good (slightly better?) officer but be prepared to pay 2,000.

Corroboration: I inquired 2 months ago and they said the same. Also, they said in case they have to cancel their van they'd arrange for a friend's service but I still need to bring the IO payoff money.

On the other hand, 5 Star Visa Runs did not seem to know about this fee when I emailed them about it.

Does anyone have experience with this fee -- which is only for ED visa holders -- at one of the Chanthaburi border crossings?

Thats impossible. How can they cancel something that is already cancelled?
