How does one make a will in Thailand ? whats the cost ? and will you be toasted on the pyre or have your corpse shipped back home for a burial ?

And will you pay for a big p1ssup for all the family ?

I don't need to make a will, everything I have is in my Thai wifes name. Just burn me and get on down the road.

ho ho ho said Santa Claus, it's not that easy Sir. We deserve a beer for reading all your postings here, what's a beer when everything you own will go to your wife? Party!!!

Easy for me, Why make dieing so complicated, you plan on trying to take something with you?

Sorry, no legal experience on the will, however, I would discuss with spouse/relatives on the funeral. Go through the chimney in a Wat or be shipped home? And than? The shipping costs are extremely expensive. You would need somebody back home to arrange for everything.

Hope, I go last, than my embassy could get a bit busy. Why worry, once you are gone you are gone.

There are very few people who know in advance the date they will be gone. Usually, the judge will tell them.

how good is a will held by a thai spouse when wanting to collect pension money from a fund overseas when the falang husband dies?

I've got some bits here and there in the UK and it is close to impossible for myself with living tissue and all to inquire regarding the status thereof. Unvaryingly when one inquires in the UK there is a sneering middle aged cundt on the line gleefully informing you that she don't have to tell you nothing...put the request in writing, swear an oath and blah blah. One would have to hire half the legal talent in Thailand in order to have funds released when the husband dies.

Anyone know how to set it up so that the thai wife would have a minimum of hassel in this regard? And don't mention UK solicitors...they are worse than the middle aged cundt with the big hair...(jaysus, the way that they smell with the chiffon blouses with a big bow and the heavy slap...)

Well, I have decided that the best way to go is being shot by a jealous husband when I am one hundred and eight years old five minutes after the money runs out.

The only thing you want to leave behind is the funeral bill.

If your estate is bereft of readies Maerim, the local Wat will do you free. Now there's a bargain :o

I have stated it in my will, and my wife knows that I am quite happy to be cremated at the local Wat.

Better to say it now while everyone is fit and well, than to have to worry at the last minute

Its what happens after that is of concern .

Sweeping out all the ashes and remains of old clothing , coins that sat on your eyes ,

belt buckles and assorted debris , bits left behind before you were cremated , all mixed up with your stuff ,.And then they bundle it up and dump it in a shallow hole quickly dug .

Its right in your face ....

A cord of wood behind the house and a dry news paper. All she needs.

And a packet of chossticks. We'll appeal to generous donors on this forum to provide those. :o

As for me, I agree with Maerim. And don't waste any firewood on me. Just feed me to the dogs or ducks or whatever. This is all distant future, I hope. :D

"distant future" you're right on but no one knows just when it will be do they?

Just do it. Why waste money on shipping the bod home to receive the same treatment as would be given here.

Bottom line (for me) is who gives a sh*t what happens when you move on to the big w********e in the sky.

What do you mean 'just do it' ? Right now, feed it to the ducks? My wife has other ideas at this point in time. As for the dogs, I'll eat some more of them, first. My wife's cousin does an excellent spitroast.
