Buying A Double/queen Bed In Surin, Thailand

Hi,

I will be staying in Surin, Thailand in northeast Thailand for a period of time and I need to buy a double or queen size bed and frame. I was wondering if anyone could tell me where in Surin I could buy one. It doesn't have to be brand new but this is going to be my first time in Surin and even when I was in Pattaya in January, I don't ever remember seeing someplace that sold furniture like beds or bedroom furniture. I know Surin tends to be a more traditionally Thai city and I figured someone on here would know of a place to buy one. I can't stand the thought of sleeping on the mats my fiancee sleeps on. Also, what would be the going rate for a bed in Surin too?

Thanks for any reply I get....

Hi,

You won't have a problem....Surin has everything you will ever need available in a large variety of stores......Big C, Tesco, etc. One very good furniture shop is Koncept in the same st as Tong Tarin Hotel, Hugh range and the deliver and install at no extra cost.....prices are negotiable.

Hi,

I appreciate the quick reply. I figure I should be able to find a fairly decent priced bed somewhere in Surin. If I have to stay there for a month every 3-4 months, I can't sleep on the mats the Thai's sleep on and it has to be cheaper than staying at the hotels....haha. I will check out the local stores though. My GF said maybe even a market might be an option too but someone told me at the markets, there might be an issue with cleanliness...Either way, I really do appreciate any info anyone has on this. Besides the bed issue, I am also trying to think of what I'm going to do in Surin for 3 weeks. My future mother-in-law is either going to adore me being so involved with the family or she will be sick of seeing my face everyday....haha

Thanks again,

Hi NHS

I would also recomend Koncept Furniture shop. I bought all my beds there and although not the cheapest, they are of good quality. If you are mobile there are many interesting spots to visit from Surin. The Farang Connection website is a good starter for ideas. If you see a Farang in Surin (after April 10th) with the biggest smile, :D say Hi! cos it might be me :o . I've finally made the 'Premature Evacuation' from London. :D

If your around Nisom area (3k on right towards Presat) call in 4 a beer. Blue roof & 's' shaped fish pond in front garden (both not my idea's!!) :D

Regards

:D

A few years ago, I bought a beautiful bedroom suite from a branch of Index, in the night market road. The main Index branch is out toward Thep Thani on the Ubon/Sisaket road, just before the ring road lights. As people say, Concept is good, and they have a bevvy of luvverlies showing you round. Come and see us first, and you should get a discount in either Concept, or the store that Jayeram has pointed out.

Well, If you see a slim 6'5" farang with a gorgeous Thai woman and a 3 year old little boy in Surin from April 22-May 9th, say Hello because it will probably be me. Usually when I'm in Thailand, especially in the markets, my height usually gets stares and people pointing at me, plus because I have a moustache, I have even had a few older people ask if it's real....haha.

As far as the Farang Connection, I consider it a "Must See" place on my Surin visit list.

Also, the bed information has been wonderful and I would much rather spend the money on a bed than to pay it to a hotel with nothing to show when I check out.

Lastly too, if anyone has any other information, please feel free to pass it on.

For you people in Surin now, stay cool, CNN Weather has been saying it's blistering hot this weekend. So I hope your fans are working well and thanks so much for all your help.

The farang connection is a cant miss place! As you walk past it there will be a fat, bald bloke with a technicolour shirt on and a cockney accent there inviting you in, once you orbit around him you will see a table full of old codgers half piss*d (except yorky) he'l be fully tanked up! putting the world to rights (all the young ones have returned to their home land), and possibly a rendition of frank sinatras I DID IT THAI WAY by (ahem) Ken! :o They might be a frenchman there also, you cant miss him he'l be sat by himself! So apart from them things the place is wonderfull and i'm sure you will love it!! Oh by the way there might be a cheeky little git there taking the michael out of anyone and anything mostly himself, but especially the frenchman! :D that will be me, as i arrive early May. Ooooohhhhhh i cant wait to get back to see the cantancorous old so and so's. :D

Ther's also the dark side of Surin to see, however thats probably not a good idea, but a thursday is the boys night out...............Enough said :o

I didn't think Surin had a "Dark Side", I thought that was only in Bangkok or in Pattaya. A "Dark Side", now you have my curiosity awake and don’t leave me hanging with just the mention of a Dark Side….haha. What per say is the “Dark Side” of Surin? Will it get me into trouble with my Thai girlfriend?….haha

It certainly will!

:o:D

There's a few little out of the way places only the locals and the old codgers at farang connection no about and there normally to pissed by then to (lets just say) get in to trouble. There's also Hard Rock at the bottom of soi cola, there's BIG trouble there. Dont worry i'm sure you'l get invited along once you meet the local farangs, however i wont divulge any names or places on the forum as its best to keep things quite. :D

As I have seen with my gf in the past, she will keep me far away from any bad influences...haha. She isn't a drinker and neither am I but she is also not a "Thai Man Lover" either. I have met my fair share of Thai women and a lot of them REALLY dislike Thai men, just as my gf does. You know what I mean I'm sure......The ones I have spoken to all say...."Thai men drink, lie and have many many women......Thai men no good." I think once a Thai women finds a good man whether their American, English or whatever, they tend to like to keep them clear of any influence that will corrupt them. Mine I suspect is no different than any others.

I did look to see if there was someplace to go dancing in Surin and there is very little mentioned about clubs in Surin. I asked on another forum and had people messaging me about places to pick up bargirls and ladyboys but no actual clubs just to dance, which is all I was asking about. Most of the messages I got did say that there was one club behind one of the bigger hotels in Surin but they doubted my gf would go there because there tends to be a lot of single girls there looking for nice guys to meet. They said a single American is a hot comodity in a town like Surin. I'm taken and glad that I have found a Thai beauty too, but it does amuse me to hear some of the stories from other people.

I can't wait to come to Surin though, I have thought about it for months and I have 2 weeks to go.

According to Farang Connection, I shouldn't be believing you....hahaha but what did you mean when you said “There's also Hard Rock at the bottom of soi cola, there's BIG trouble there”?

Also, considering I’m coming to Surin to spend a month with my Thai gf, her little boy and the family to see if this is something I want to commit too for long term or if this is “just” a short-term relationship, I’m not going to hang out at a club checking out the local talent…haha. All that will get me is a pissed off Thai gf…haha and I’ll be headed back to BKK or to Pattaya….lol.

I have been doing the long distance phone relationship since January when I was last in Thailand with her and it sucks and I need to get back to my honey and get on with this relationship on a one to one basis.

I did read somewhere though that Surin is starting to pick up with regards to bars and places to meet women. I guess businesses are coming to Surin and with business, comes the need for more evening and feminine entertainment.

Thanks for the comments though, I get a kick out of them comments here and the private messages.

We do have at least a couple of members of Thai Visa, that reckon you can have as good a night out in Surin, as anywhere in Thailand.

This is how I found this forum. I was talking in another forum about coming to Surin and possibly going out on a night or two and they were asking me what I was looking for. I had people making suggestions about places to go to find good music and drinks, places to meet women and to my utter surprise I even had a few suggest pl;aces to pick up a ladyboy or two.....lol. The ladyboy comment surprised me, I never thought Surin would be ladyboy territory...haha. I excused the ladyboy suggestion and explained that I tend to stay clear of anything with similar equiment as I have...haha. They did make it quite clear though....if it's in Bangkok or Pattaya, it's in any other city in Thailand too, just not as much as the two big play cities. I will most definately stop into the connection though. I even asked my gf last night if she knew where it was and she said she did, so you'll see me in a couple of weeks.

Someone mentioned to me this morning about a possible option for something to sleep on versus buying a bed. They thought maybe a futon would be a good option but I didn't know it's an american thing or if I could actually even buy a futin in Thailand let alone Surin. Of course I thought, go to the source of Surin question and answers.....The Farang Connection...hahaha

I asked my Thai GF and trying to explain what a futon is to a Thai without my having Thai speaking skills.....well......lets just say it was a interesting and and a very UNSUCCESSFUL discussion. So if someone has insight on buying a futon in Surin, let me know. You made suggestions about buying a matress and box spring in Surin already so those same places may have futons too.

Thanks for all your help either way,

I thought this thread was about buying a bed, not renting space on one.

P.S. good quality furniture is widely available in Thailand.... most of us stopped sleeping on banana leaves quite some time ago..... specialists shops have been created to cater to our every need

P.P.S. Can the OP please turn off the bold type.... it really is quite annoying.

Whew....................at last. Someone agrees with me that I'm not the right person to ask about sleeping around. Maybe now I'll not get every Tom, Dick & Harry asking me where I can get them a bird for the night. Cheers mate.
