Video: Chase of tanker through the Thai countryside - driver high on Ya Ba

A video on the site of Ban Muang showed a police chase after a ten wheel tanker driver failed to stop for a routine licence check. 

 

Nakhon Chaisri police motorcyclists gave chase as the tanker raced through Nakhon Pathom province in central Thailand. 

 

Later a patrol car and police pick-up joined the chase and managed to corner the driver who finally slowed down.

 

Officers entered his cab through the left and right but he still resisted arrest before he was cuffed. 

 

 

He was found to be high on Ya Ba (amphetamines) and charged with taking the drug, driving while under the influence of drugs and reckless endangerment. 

 

Ban Muang said that officers involved in the chase had preceded the vehicle and driven behind in order to protect other road users. 

 

The story did not specify what the tanker was carrying. 

 

The driver from Samut Songkhram was named as 54 year old Charoen Soisawat.

Regardless of the circumstances, the driver should be committed to the loony bin for this.

I nominate these police for Hero status, they surely risked their lives chasing this guy and getting him stopped.  Would you have done it?  And on motorcys no less!!!

was this is his truck? Like was he on the job? Or just higher than a kite bombing around in the countryside? I admire his work ethic to deliver his shipment on time but I think a few red bulls have the same effect when you are falling asleep at the wheel. 

Also these cops are legit hero's and have some big stones, well done boys

I wouldn't have chased a tanker , bigger 'nads than me.  In answer to the OP I think the tanker was empty , seemed to accelerate well.

Yes, the cops acted bravely, but also without any plan as to how to stop this crazed lunatic, thus putting themselves and everyone else at risk of a terrible death.

 

Have the police here never heard of road blocks or nail-belts across the road, or stopping all traffic coming towards this lunatic?????

I didn't see any flashing lights or hear any sirens from the police, and pointing while driving at speed all very scary stuff, but credos to eventually stopping the loony.
