The opposition Future Forward party will, next year, press for state recognition of the basic rights of Thailand’s ethnic minorities, which include rights of access to state welfare and ancestral land rights, says Future Forward party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit.

The embattled party leader, party spokeswoman Pannika “Chor” Wanich and deputy leader Ms. Kulthida Roongruangkit were in Tak, Phetchabun and Chiang Mai provinces respectively yesterday (Friday) to attend hill tribe New Year celebrations and to woo their support for the party.

In his address to the Hmong hill tribe people, in Phob Phra district of Tak province on Friday, Thanathorn said that ethnic minorities have been treated as second-class citizens and have been taken advantage of by the state and state officials.

If he can offer them citizenship without having to get trapped in a cave first, that would be an improvement.

Good on them, but the whole Thainess thing may make finding support in parliament difficult.

See? Khaosod already reporter of some silly general ranting about Thainess. Never mind that 'Thais' are a mixed back of ethnicities,  cultures and their Lao rooted languages was mixed with Khmer, Pali etc. When they moved down in what today we would call Thailand. But some Khon Dee can't get the fantasy of a superior Thai(ness) out if their mind:

Khaosod reports:

"(..)The first post, published on Dec. 28, urged Thanathorn to “take the Hmongs back to their homeland so they would no longer be a burden to Thai people.”

It also said, “Hmongs are still lacking intelligence (although some of them may be brilliant) because they are lacking a good education. They can only become Thai when they fully transform their traditions, beliefs, and arts to match with those of Thai people.” (...)

Yes.....it's all about people. Especially, the ethnic types.
