webfact Posted January 2, 2020 Share Posted January 2, 2020 Top court to give verdict on Sorayuth’s case on January 21 By THE NATION The Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases announced on Thursday (January 2) that it will read the Supreme Court’s ruling on January 21 on the lawsuit filed by MCOT Public Company Limited against Sorayuth Suthassanachinda and an employee of Raisom for embezzling advertisement fees estimated at over Bt138 million during 2005-2006 when the TV celebrity was hosting a popular morning news show. On August 29, 2017, the Appeal Court upheld the lower court's verdict in sentencing Sorayuth and Manthana Theeradet, managing director of Raisom, a company owned by Sorayuth, to 13 years and four months in jail each for embezzling from MCOT. The court also sentenced Pitchapha Iamsa-ad, a former MCOT employee to 20 years for involvement in the offence. Sorayuth and his aide appealed against the ruling and were granted bail at Bt5 million each under the conditions that they are forbidden from leaving the the country and must report to court every 3 months.
