Finance Ministry to take monetary and fiscal measures to stimulate economy

Finance Minister Chalongphob Sussangkarn on Tuesday revealed the Finance Ministry is set to take monetary and fiscal measures to stimulate the country’s economy.

Speaking after a meeting with an advisory team to find a way to make the economy grow in a sustainable manner, he said all parties saw a need to oversee and strengthen the country’s fiscal position in the future.

To this end, the early warning system for possible impact of the economic development on the fiscal policy must be put in place to keep various segments abreast of them.

The meeting also considered a measure to give assistance to various economic sectors particularly at a grassroots level.

All parties shared a common view that money needed to be injected into the sectors.

The property and construction sectors, which appeared to slow down since early this year, needed to be stimulated.

He said a committee tasked to supervise state enterprises providing social services would also be set up to improve their performance.

Dr. Chalongphob said the ministry would submit the measures for the cabinet approval soon and push for their implementation in a concrete manner.
