While Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker has been riding high at the top of the American box office charts for the last few weeks, it took an awards favourite with plenty of buzz and a platform release that went wide this weekend.

Sam Mendes' 1917. which had been on a few screens, rocketed up the charts to snatch first position.

The film, which is set during the muddy, chaotic conflict of World War I, has been hoovering up the awards and leapt in terms of earning, nabbing $36.5 million, according to studio estimates.

That was enough to overtake Skywalker, which dropped to second place on $15 million.

Well worth watching.

I will watch it. I thought the Irishman was boring, and the Joker wasn’t fun watching a mentally ill man seem to somehow win out.

once upon a time in Hollywood was very entertaining and the writer/director has done it again with two very good actors in the leads.....I like the way the director writer rewrites history.
