About this (contained) coronavirus

Featured Replies

Despite all the reassuring informations provided by officials, there may be some reasons for concern regarding the potential coronavirus epidemic.

First, there are quite a few disturbing Chinese videos which have been posted on Facebook (I don't do Facebook but my wife just showed me some of them).

It appears that things go well beyond travel restrictions and the city (Wuhan?) looks like under complete lockdown (no cars and no people outdoors...like in a zombie/end of the world movie).

Which leads to wonder why the Chinese authorities would resort to such drastic measures if the virus had killed only around 80 people out of about 3,000 infected (a rate of less than 3%).

After all, the standard flu kills thousands every year, worldwide.

So, what is really so special, and apparently frightening, about this virus?

Is the death toll/rate much higher than officially presented?

According to a number of testimonies, many deaths in the infected areas have been counted as resulting from pneumonia, even though the symptoms were the same as those of the coronavirus.

We will maybe have a better idea of the real situation in the coming days...in the meantime feel free to spend money with abandon in decontaminated shopping centers, or in Nong Nooch Garden if you are close enough...

There are numerous topic already on this, I dont think we need yet another one.

Please continue in the news forum. Heres just one example.
