rooster59
Chula pip Thammasat in football game, but national issues take centre stage By THE NATION Chulalongkorn University pipped rivals Thammasat 2-1 on Saturday (February 8) in their traditional annual football faceoff at the National Stadium, which also became the venue for colourful satirical parades on social and national issues as always. This year, Chulalongkorn mocked the PM2.5 air pollution in Bangkok and other provinces, the impact of the new coronavirus outbreak on Thai tourism, freedom of speech on political matters, the national economic slowdown, impractical government policies and the privileges of giant corporates in the country. Thammasat students raised through the use of satire the issue of outstanding political cases, such as Ratchaburi member of Parliament Pareena Kraikup’s alleged land encroachment in a reserved forest area, the Run Against Dictatorship, transparency issues of the government and the controversial Article 44 of the Constitution. Thammasat also raised the issue of social bullying, with a banner that said: “Your words have power, use them wisely”. Burma Bill
Well done students. I bet the satirical "floats" would not have been allowed in mainland China! May have also raised an eyebrow among the Thai Government elite! I wonder how many voted FFP!
