British prisoner extradited from Thailand to UK does not have coronavirus, tests confirm

A British prisoner who was suspected of having coronavirus after being transferred from Thailand to the UK has been given the all clear.

 

Mark Rumble, 31, collapsed in his cell at HMP Bullingdon just two weeks after being brought back from Thailand to face drugs charges in the UK.

 

On Thursday, The Press Association reported that Rumble, along with another prisoner, were found not to be infected with coronavirus.

 

In fact, nobody at the prison where Rumble is being held in the UK tested positive for the virus. 

 

Earlier this week, the Daily Mail reported that Rumble was suspected of contracting coronavirus after being sent to the UK from Thailand. 

 

On Wednesday, Thai authorities denied the report, saying that neither Rumble nor any other prisoner has shown signs of coronavirus infection.

 

Tests carried out in the UK later confirmed that Rumble does not have coronavirus.

 

Rumble was arrested in Pattaya last year after police in the UK contacted their Thai counterparts for help in tracking him down. 

 

He faces charges in the UK of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

 

Following his arrest in Pattaya, Rumble denied any involvement saying the charges were the result of him being set up by his Thai ex wife, who tried to get back at him after he ended their relationship.

 

At the time of publishing Thailand has reported 33 cases of coronavirus, with at least 10 of those infected having been already discharged after making a full recovery.

 

There have been no deaths from coronavirus in Thailand so far.

Oh, colour me shocked, the Sun and the Mail spreading bs news again

Both papers and the iNews were guilty of click bait sensationalism. Whilst the headlines screamed "coronavirus" the text said suspected. Basically the guy collapsed, he had a fever, and he'd recently been in Thailand - therefore government advisory applies - quarantine until verified.

 

Problem is it's all food for the conspiracy theory, doom mongering, tin foil hat brigade.

You would think the cronavirus was the revisiting of the 14th Century Black Death the way some of them get themselves worked up on here. They have no sense of perspective, proportion or being able to sniff out bs. Funnily enough, the same thing a lot of them accuse the Thais of being all the time, go figure ????

They don't look further than the headline. If they'd taken a couple of minutes to read the text they would have realised it wasn't confirmed just suspected.

 

As for checking the story against several news agencies forget it.

 

Then there are those that trust the ramblings of self described 'experts' with 'special sources', who fill YouTube with garbage and pseudoscientific nonsense.

You do know that drugs are easily purchased in prison, right. 

 

How do you think prison guards afford a lavagant lifestyle on a meager prison salary? ????

probably has a low tolerance to it coming from thailand
