Thai media reported that screening for coronavirus Covid-19 had been stepped up at Chiang Mai airport after the Thai authorities ordered the northern province to be one of eight provinces to take greater precautions.

A "thermo scanner" was in place at international departures. If passengers were found to be running a temperature they were interviewed by medical personnel, asked about where they had been and given advice.

77kaoded said it was up to the airlines concerned if they were allowed to board or not.

Arrivals from South Korea were also subjected to additional screening, reported the media.

Meanwhile a program called "Clear First Wave Chiang Mai" has been initiated that serves to check employees who come into close personal contact with tourists.

Among those being monitored are massage and spa personnel, public vehicle drivers, hotel employees and guides.

The 2nd pic says "NO PHOTO" and yet the photographer took a photo and broke the rules at the airport. Did the airport police come and detain him for breaking the rules?

They have the same set up at the inbound side at Nong Khai but nothing on the outbound side and only a couple of girls with thermometers at the inbound at Vientiane and nothing on the outbound side

It is obviously the inbound passengers that need to be checked as a priority, from a CM province point of view at very least. South Koreans checked, why no mention of the Chinese, or are there no flights from China anymore? Sorry hard to keep up.

Bit boring with the COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2 .. WHO tried to water it down by not calling the disease SARS, but ICTV named the virus SARS-CoV-2.

https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/technical-guidance/naming-the-coronavirus-disease-(covid-2019)-and-the-virus-that-causes-it

Quote

ICTV announced “severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)” as the name of the new virus on 11 February 2020.  This name was chosen because the virus is genetically related to the coronavirus responsible for the SARS outbreak of 2003.  While related, the two viruses are different.

WHO announced “COVID-19” as the name of this new disease on 11 February 2020, following guidelines previously developed with the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

When talking about the virus itself, SARS-CoV-2 is the correct name. Now it's already all mixed up like Thai immigration terms, hopeless.

Why wont Thailand say the location of where its cases have been located?  Seems to be best for the general population to know this.   Only reason I can think of in suppressing this info is they think about tourist impacts.  I've found thai people believe the government reporting and are convinced Thailand found the best treatment that China is now using.    Brainwashed since childhood.
