Visas on Arrival

Featured Replies

Hi,wanted to ask are 14 day visas on arrival still available for Chinese nationals ? my wife being Chinese and not left Shanghai recent months, thanks.

At the start of February, the Public Health Minister proposed suspending visa-on-arrival for Chinese citizens. No action on his suggestion has been taken. Visa policy remains unchanged. There is an online system to apply for a visa-on-arrival which avoids queuing at the airport, and would (we assume) block applications if visa-on-arrival for Chinese nationals was suspended.

Just to add to BritTim.

OP, your wife has not booked her trip on tour (group) booking?

Be aware that some airlines have suspended flights from China to Thailand

Check any countries she will stopover in as there may be restrictions there, and that her proposed entry point facilitates Visa on Arrival.

Here are the official sites. https://www.evisathailand.com/en/ or https://thalandevoa.vfsevisa.com/thailand

More info is here. https://www.immigration.go.th/read?content_id=5e3a8bd63e3a0402b25b64b0

She may have problems finding flights now and face a lot screening on departure from China and here.

The Thai government requires those visitors or residents coming into Thailand from China from noon on 21 February onwards to self quarantine. Once your wife leaves, assuming you have any contact with her (!) then you, yourself, should self quarantine for a further 14 days.

We have many friends in China and Taiwan who want to get out and come here, but the implications for them and for us, should we meet them, are not very attractive, to say the least.
