rooster59
Covid-19: Sa Kaeo governor urged to shut secondary entry points into Thailand after panic Thai Caption: The 11 modified entry points Image: 77kaoded A meeting in the border province of Sa Kaeo was told that minor border crossings between Thailand and Cambodia should be sealed off to protect against the spread of the coronavirus. The province was spooked after rumours abounded that an elderly Cambodian woman had come across the border and was being treated for Covid-19 like symptoms at Aranyaprathet Hospital in the province. Health officials and a large meeting with immigration and local officials urged the governor to seal off 11 entry points into Thailand. They said that their capabilities in containing the virus would be overstretched if there continued to be more openings apart from the main ones at Klong Leuk and Khao Din. Screening regarding temperature checks and questions to travellers takes place extensively at the two main checkpoints. So now the governor is mulling over whether to use his power to act along the potentially porous 160 km border. The press were not allowed in the meeting. Afterwards governor Woraphan Suwwanut said that everything was in hand and there were presently no cases of the virus in his province. He said he had given guidelines for schools in the area to exclude pupils and possibly close if students were suspected of having contracted the virus. dunroaming
My wife is flying into Bangkok tomorrow. Her father died last night after his triple bypass operation failed. She plans to stay for three weeks and then fly back to the UK. She has been told that she will have to self isolate for two weeks on her return. Can really see her doing that! I fly to uk on Monday, so far there are not instructions to quarantine for arrivals from Thailand (unless feeling unwell in which case its obvious).
