We deposited some checks at a bank in Bangkok and for about a month we were told to call back after 3 days and they will release the funds.

Then each time the funds would not be released.

 

We eventually found out about the "Obudsman of Thailand".

 

We contacted them, they investigated and resolved the issue. 

 

I hope this post is helpful for anyone having these same type of issues with their bank.

How long did it take after you made the complaint until they released the funds?

 

Also - was it a check in a foreign currency other than Thai Baht, I think this might be important?

 

I know there are some weird liability issues when processing foreign currency checks - essentially they can be reversed a long time after domestic checks can - this is old information though so it might be out of date.
