I'm in Phuket on our family's annual winter vacation... We decided to stay another month, but my 30-day extension (on 60-day SETV from HK) is ending soon, and I'm not visa-exempt...

 

Thinking to fly to Malaysia for another SETV - which place would be safest bet for quick visa run: KL, Penang or Kota Bharu? (should I go with agency?)

 

My travel history: each year visit Phuket whole Jan+Feb, 1 week in April and 1 week in December.

CurrentSETV is from HK December (Phuket 1 week, then re-entry in January + 30days extension expiring next week).

Any of the 3 you mentioned would be a good location. Agents are only available in Penang.

Thanks Joe... Easiest route for me would be KL... Hope to hear from anybody who experienced SETV in KL recently?

 

I learned that from 2020 they require online booking in advance, but not sure about any special requirements in KL (in HK they needed only tickets & hotel, nothing else, no bank statements no employer's letters etc).

An appointment is needed in KL but they are often available for the same day that you apply.
