Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai has received an assurance from his South Korean counterpart Kang Kyung-wha that the two sides will collaborate on three measures pertaining to the return of illegal Thai labourers, government spokeswoman Narumon Pinyosinwat said today (March 6).

“The measures include a 14-day quarantine period for the labourers before they return to Thailand and stricter screening at the airports for those who travel to Thailand,” she said.

Don also asked Kang to provide information on Thai workers registered with the Korean Immigrant Bureau.

“The last measure is for the convenience of workers returning to their hometown,” Narumon said.

“The Korean government has assured us that it will take good care of Thais in South Korea, and will send them for medical treatment in case of any sickness,” she added.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has called on relevant agencies to prepare to receive the workers returning from South Korea.

Makes sense to quarantine them in Korea, we already know they don't follow the rules as they're living and working illegally while on overstay.

Something being hidden here - surprise, surprise!

Out of the Blue! SK knows the whereabouts of all the illegal Thai workers, rather than throw them out or into jail they are more worried about their "convenience" ????

I was about to believe post till I read

South Korea doesn't want them and neither does Thailand so just put them all in a boat and park them off San Francisco.

Altho' Thailand has been quite happy to accept the money they repatriate home to their families and South Korea has been equally happy to use them as cheap labour.

Let them come home without fuss..process them as they return professionally and speedily and allow them to self quarantine.

As i understand it most of these workers are farm workers, what now happens to these farms and the produce that these people were picking or looking after. You can stop a car production line and restart it in a week or a month but farms with crops growing that a different thing.

what about the 100.000 illegal overstayers ? hope they get BLACKLISTED for life

Wait until the customers Viagra has worn off. We don't want bad reviews

Is that what they call Thai hookers in Korea? They must be having fun on that farm.

Foreigner who simply overstays his visa here has a big problem. Faces Deportation and blacklisting..

Thais 100,000’s of them located abroad who are overstaying their visa while illegally working seems to be regarded business as usual !!

Thais are masters of hypocrisy and double standards.

It is so convenient that all these illegal immigrants want to leave all of a sudden. The virus is doing what the Korean government has failed to do over the years.

The South Korean gov't has announced an amnesty and is urging them to go.

Of course the situation has changed.
