Retirement Query

Featured Replies

Just got back from Loei Immigration after renewing retirement extension and found this in my passport, so I have to go there every 3 months and show my Bank book or am I reading this wrong?

Other offices are wanting  the same thing done. So you have to go to immigration every 3 months.

So watching in my personal Chrystal ball : next I.O. idea step 800K whole year …?

I personal could live with that on condition they don't trouble my ret. ext.non "O" with that insurance requirement as money was always already on Thai bank years

Okay thanks, that’s another pain in the ass then the office is 2.5 hours away!!! Do my 90 days online. How ridiculous.

Tie it to your 90 day report and it would be ok with me, but to go every other month to Immigration for a 90 day report, then back again for the bankbook check, of course lets get real.  These requirements are getting a little bit overboard.

And what about the ones who did ret. ext. already example 6 months ago  and the 90 day money on bank rapport also, and never got THIS present paper not ? …. And are officially unaware about this new thing ?

Would this eliminate the 12 month bank statement?

It's 1.5 hour drive to my local IO, so I do my 90-day reports and TM30-filings on-line.

So only need to visit my IO for yearly extension, but having to visit IO every 3 months just to have them take a look whether the required amount is still there, is absolutely ridiculous.

And what about if you are not in-country on the 3-month check.

Jomtien was the first to start with this 90-day bank-book check nonsense, and there it has slowly faded away,

But now it looks that also other IOs decided to enforce this craziness.

Anybody has the address of a professional thai IO-approved exorcist?

Your guess is likely as good as anyone else's. Although if we take Jomtiem, who sometimes only wish to see the 1st 3 month money check.. then nod and say okay and do not log it anywhere.. I suspect the next extension renewal will need 12 months of bank statements or a complete passbook.

"Hey Porn, we still have way too many western retirees in our country...what more can we do to aggravate the pee out of them?"...????

OP, to make you feel worse....there are very few imm offices that require it.

Even Jomtien who previously had been asking for just the first 3 month check, have dropped off on it.

CW and most others never requested it.
