Crime Suppression Division officers served a warrant for fraud on a Thai couple in Nonthaburi after complaints received from people who donated money to terminal cancer patients on Facebook.

Arrested at an apartment in the La Khwan market area were Samrong, 41, in the alien t-shirt, and Wilailak, 40.

A warrant had been out since January for their arrest after victims said they had been defrauded of 419,490 baht.

The couple managed to gain the trust of people who went onto a legitimate site on Facebook.

They were under the impression that their donations would be used for people in terminal care suffering from bone, lung and breast cancer in Khon Kaen.

Instead the couple siphoned off the money themselves to try and pay off loan shark debts.
