March 15, 20206 yr Popular Post Greetings all. My wife and I are wanting to grow artichokes here in Thailand. Is there a variety or is are the able to grow in this climate? We have looked in the local markets for them but have not been able to find any. Thanks for any information and we hope all of you have a good day.
March 15, 20206 yr are these not grown in Thailand? as i thought they were but maybe wrong. Cool project good luck.
March 16, 20206 yr A bit like Marmite. I hate them. I have never seen them here nor my Thai partner. (Issan). Might be worth a Google or a visit to a garden centre. Back in Italy they are grown in abundance. Good luck.
March 24, 20206 yr If you can grow them the best is to sell them to a 5* hotel with a western master chef....I'm pretty sure that if the price is high enough the thai/chinese will love to go there and eat them. Yes it has to be very expensive and exclusive so they can brag about having eaten them.
April 3, 20206 yr Based on these 2 articles, I assume it's possible to grow them here, but, both articles suggest that in really hot climates, the quality of the edible part drops. https://agrilifeextension.tamu.edu/library/gardening/artichokes/ https://www.thespruce.com/tips-for-growing-artichokes-1403455
April 3, 20206 yr I used to cultivate artichokes from seed in Switzerland, difficult getting them through the winter. They stopped being of any use when temperatures went above 25°C or so. Edited April 3, 20206 yr by cooked "from seed"
