Success – 1 year annual retirement extension using multiple income method in Phuket

Just received my annual extensive for retirement using the multiple income method without the American Embassy income letter.

Bank docs used:

1.  Savings account - 12 month statement from Bangkok Bank (takes 1+ weeks from headquarters)

2.  Savings account - letter from bank stating my current balance.

3.  Savings account - additional 1 month statement (current) showing balance is same as letter

4.  Savings account - updated bank book so balance same as letter and 1 month statement

5.  Savings account - copies of all pages of bank book for the 12 month period

6.  Income account - letter from bank showing monthly deposits in USD and Thai Baht.  I used sample letter Ubon Joe has posted several times.

7.  Income account - copies of all pages of bank book for the 12 month period.

Ordered the statement from the bank 1 week in advance.   When the statement was ready I went back and got all the other docs.  Except....it took an extra day to get the direct deposit transaction report to do the income letter.  I had to go back to pick up that letter the following day, making it 3 times I had to go to the bank.  The following day I went to immigration.

At immigration I had to explain to the screener that I was using combo method.  Then I had to explain again to the immigration officer inside.  He took a long time looking at everything and highlighted the bank book to match the letter.  Then he actually gave me back the 12-month statement.  Said he didn't need it ???? what?   But, I agree  Bangkok Bank's 12 month statements are very confusing.

Everything was stamped and Ok.  Picked up the passport the following day.

Sorry this is so long, but I wanted to be detailed.  Have a nice evening.

Suggestion:  If you chose this method order the transaction report for the 12 months of income letter the same time you order the 12 month statement.   This will result in one less day at the bank.

Having done all this I am seriously considering putting 800,000 into my savings account and take the easy way out next year.  But I hate to tie up more money than I have to.  I'll see how I feel in a couple of days.

So if you need to the the combo method, it is available in Phuket if you get all the paperwork in order.  Good luck and have strength.

BTW, Phuket needs the bank docs dated 7 days or less.  I have read some offices want them the same day.

Thank you for taking the time to post. It helps everyone.
