What does it mean when a Thai person says 'im worried about you'. Is it what it means in English or does this just mean, i hope your ok in Thai or something?

I know sometimes, when Thai people say something in English, they mean it in a different context than to what i conveys in English...

I think that you can take it at face value unless there is absolutely no reason for them to worry about you. In such a case, if it is important to you that they are content, then you need to dispel their fears.
If they suspected that you were not alright they would ask สบายดีไหม or similar.
