Hi there,

I was reading a lot throughout the forum regarding the requirements of a Non-Immigrant Type "O" visa.

I am currently here on a Non-Immigrant Type "B". I will get married to my Thai-fiancee next month.

When I go back to Germany this summer, I think I should have 2 choices:

1) Getting a Non-Immigrant Type "B" again, or

2) Getting a Non-Immigrant Type "O"

I would like to go for the second option, as I think that I only need to show the marriage certificate and the birth certifcate of my wife, right?

The main confusion comes from all this discussions about the 400k Baht rule that one had to have on a bank account in the past and the actual 40k Baht monthly income rule, that a family must earn. Both of these rules are ONLY related to the entry permit extension based on the support of a thai individual, right? In most threads this is described as the requirements to get the Non-Immigrant Type "O" visa, but as far as I am informed, this is not true!

Please confirm, if I am right.

Thanks for your help,

Mike

It is not the case to obtain a single entry non immigrant O visa but is the case to obtain a multi entry O visa in Singapore (proof of 400k in a bank account somewhere). Other Consulates may or may not issue a multi entry visa. The normal requirement is copy of marriage certificate and wife id card.

OK, thanks for the information.

So I will check with my consulate in Germany if the issue a multiple without proof of income. Do they still accept the 400k in a bank account in Singapore? I thought this is an old regulation which is no longer valid and that nowadays only the 40k monthly income is mandatory.

I wouldn't mind to do the visa run every 90 days though.

Thanks.

The 400k was for one year extension of stay from immigration and was replaced by the 40k family income. What Singapore has done is to use that figure as the basis to issue multi entry visa. If no cash shown only a single entry would be provided and you would be expected to extend your stay at immigration with the 40k per month method, obtain another visa, or leave.

Sorry - I didn't read your posting carefully enough!

So what you mean is that they just check, that you have 400k Baht in a bank account to give you a multiple entry. This money can be in any bank account anywhere in the world, right? It is just to proove that you have enough money to pay for your expenses during your stay in the Kingdom, right?

That is how it was - no telling if it will be the same tomorrow. If anyone reading wants to use Singapore would advise they contact directly immediately before they travel to confirm current requirements.
