More than 300 tourism operators who applied for a return of excess collateral have received cash worth Bt18.62 million under a Tourism and Sports Ministry measure to relieve their suffering amid the Covid-19 crisis, the Department of Tourism (DOT) reported.

With the measure having come into effect, DOT had informed the operators to apply for the return of excess collateral at six Tourist Business and Guide Registration Office branches between April 28 and May 15.

“From April 28 to May 15, 304 tourism operators who suffered from the Covid-19 impact received excess collateral worth Bt18.62 million,” the officials announced.

The officials said they would pay excess collateral to other tourism operators as soon as possible.

“DOT has extended the period to allow the operators to register for a return of excess collateral, from 8.30am to 4.30pm, except at the Tourist Business and Guide Registration Office’s Bangkok branch, which will be closed every Sunday,” the officials said.

They added that tourism operators can contact the department via mobile phone numbers 09 6406 7359 or 09 6339 5425, or visit its Facebook page for more information.
