Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has revealed which characters he regrets killing off.

The writer and showrunner took part in a live watchalong of series 5 episode 6 with Esquire on Sunday (May 31), during which he answered a lot of questions about the BBC show; one of which queried which characters he wished he'd kept alive.

And, the answers may surprise you.

During the chat, Steven revealed the four characters he regrets killing off are Aberama Gold (Aidan Gillen), Barney Thompson (Cosmo Jarvis), Malacki Byrne (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor) and Major Campbell (Sam Neill).

Maybe the creator can bring them back by writing a scene where they all come back to life after they were only dreaming. I saw this once in a fantastic show called Dullas Dishwater, where Bobby, the young handsome one was killed and written out of the series for two years then came back when it turned out he was only dreaming.

I do hope not! Such a scenario would (IMO) ruin one of the best dramas ever produced. As it is it's believable and "real"

Then he is not a very good writer, a dick in fact and didn't think far enough ahead. A truly professional writer would never make such a number of mistakes. Take Julian Fellows and Downton Abby.  if you do the maths, by the time setting of the recent movie, The Dowager Lady Grantham would be around 110 years old. He kept her in as a major character, regardless,  true writing genius.  PB will just fade away in the memory as the characters become jaded and uninteresting.  Pity, because it started off so well, but the last series was not very good.

Disagree. A couple of minor mistakes perhaps but I hope it endures for a couple more series at least.
