The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will closely monitor the situation, especially in kindergartens until grade three, when schools nationwide reopen next month.

Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwanmuang said today (June 23) on his Facebook fan page that teachers, students and parents have to adapt themselves to the “new normal” when the new semester kicks off next week.

“You have to wear face masks, maintain social distancing and wash your fingers with soap or alcohol-based sanitisers,” he advised, adding that students of kindergartens or small schools will be urged to attend every day.

Meanwhile, Aswin said, students in grades 4 to 12, or schools with more than 400 students, will be allowed to study in schools and also at home to reduce crowding. Their schedule between offline and online courses may be switched day by day, depending on school specifications, he added.

The BMA has instructed schools to disinfect classrooms, toilets and canteens, and urged operators to see to it that students maintain social distancing in these places.

This is going to be very interesting... a shortened term but they won't adjust the tests for mid and end of term, so they need to get through the curriculum quickly, yet they plan to stagger kids' days at school. That means the teachers may have to teach the same things two days in a row, further exscerbating the problem. Oh, and don't forget the sports day preparations, school anniversaries, public holidays and let's throw in a delayed Song Kran.

Social distancing with 20 five years olds.  You must be joking.  It kind of like herding 20 puppies.  Can't be done.

The guy in the picture really do has the eye of a hawk.

I'm sure we can all rest easy now.....

Interesting!

There is an Japanese school (or kindergarten) on our soi. They look as if they are preparing to open and on Saturday had some kind of get together for the students/kids.

I saw them playing in the garden and not a single one was wearing a mask. There were also groups sitting together on mats on the grass without any social distancing.
