paddlesup
Not sure where to post this.........Wonder if anyone can kindly offer some advice on costs involved of shipping h/hold goods from Thailand to UK. Is it generally charged by cubic metre or by weight and what is the customs situation at each end - any hidden extras to be aware of? What length of time is normal for goods to arrive? Lastly any recommendations of reliable firms to contact? Cheers!
Jockstar
We moved to Sydney last year. We used a shipping company around and near the Bayoke Tower. Cant remember the name. But they just used DHL anyway. So look into DHL. Its not that expensive. BTW we shipped 7 boxes of stuff. samran
depends what you are sending. Up to 10 personal boxes of stuff, then it is almost better to DYI. More than that, then get a mover in, cause they are cheap on the Thai side. For DYI check out the shops in the area around Mahatun Plaza, on the south side of Ploenchit Rd, just next to the Ploenchit BTS. A bunch of shipping companies base themselves there. Compare prices and see what they say. For boxes, go to the post office. They usually have good sized and sturdy boxes good for shipping (though tape them up well!!) For value for money professional, I'd recommend Transpro/Asian tigers. They've always had the best quote for us. Highly recommend though that at the British end to get an agent to handle everything, to your door. HMRC , while not corrupt, have their own charges for inspection which ain't cheap if I recall correctly, plus there is a maze of paperwork which the agents do all for you...it is really worth it.
