Popular Post rooster59
Barbados is planning to let people stay and work remotely for a year Vicky McKeever Working from home could be about to get a major upgrade, as Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley has said her government is considering letting visitors stay and work remotely from the island for a year. Mottley said lawmakers were looking at introducing the 12-month “Barbados Welcome Stamp,” noting that restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic had made short-term travel more difficult because of the testing now required. “You don’t need to work in Europe, or the U.S. or Latin America if you can come here and work for a couple months at a time; go back and come back,” she said in a speech last week, according to the Barbados Government Information Service website. She added that it would allow “persons to come and work from here overseas, digitally so, so that persons don’t need to remain in the countries in which they are.” Full story: https://www.cnbc.com/2020/07/10/barbados-is-planning-to-let-people-stay-and-work-remotely-for-a-year.html CNBC: 2020-07-11 3
Popular Post Logosone
Fantastic idea Barbados! I have to say Immigration in the Caribbean (excepting the large nations like Jamaica and Cuba obviously) are very sensible and pragmatic. I once brought a Filipina to Grand Cayman and her father died so she had to fly back. Her visa would have been invalidated. Went to see immigration and they turned it into a 2 year (!) visa with multiple entries. Very humane and nice people in the Caribbean. Popular Post NumbNut
Excellent! Congrats for thinking outside the box! Need more details, but this is a very good start and a welcome development. Could this be a blueprint for other destinations to follow?

Would be nice if Thailand et al also take note. 2

They want Chinese on group tours, not westerners living here pretending to be tourists or students while they work illegally or online. 2

SiSePuede419
1. Except Barbados is twice as expensive as Thailand. It's gonna cost $100USD per day versus $50USD per day in Thailand. 2. I don't need to go to Barbados to work remotely. I have internet at my home already and there are no remote jobs (or very, very few). 3. Anywhere you are CORONAVIRUS WON'T BE GOING AWAY. FOR YEARS. VACCINES WON'T WORK FOR LONG. THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE WORLD WON'T BE GETTING MONTHLY JABS. THE WORLD WON'T BE GOING BACK TO "NORMAL". We're in a worldwide, downward economic spiral beyond our control. Nothing you say or do will change this. Get used to it. ???? 1

A friend of mine, a fellow Brit, was brutally murdered in Barbados by 5 thugs, sent by a mafia type, at the house his late parents had bought decades ago.
