Does anyone know if the SCB branch in the Chaengwattana Immigration building in Bangkok has reopened?

SCB branch in the Chaengwattana Immigration building is still closed so we called the SCB telephone number to check when or if it would reopen and were informed that this closure was permanent.

SCB does not seem to care much for foreigners

SCB did announce plans to close 200 physical branches in 2018 as part of its three-year plan to cut operating costs by 30% by 2020.

 

Saw reports they closed 50 in 2019, with plans to close 30-40% of their remaining branches (currently ~ 1,200 open) in the coming years. Covid-19 probably acclerated the closure rate?

 

 

 

More capable machines (e.g., ATMs) and mbanking---what many people call finger banking....just using your finger to press buttons/icons on a machine/phone---are making many bank employees and buildings redundant.

It is permanently closed. Very inconvenient for us that use SCB for our extension requirements. They were merged into the branch at the nearby Big C which unfortunately does not open until 10:30am.
