BANGKOK (NNT) - The Prime Minister has expressed his concern for a Thai official overseas who has tested positive to COVID-19, urging related agencies to provide assistance.

A Deputy Government Spokesperson, Trisulee Trisaranakul disclosed today that Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, has ordered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take good care of the official at the Royal Thai Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; the staff member has tested positive to COVID-19. The official is now reported to be receiving medical treatment at a hospital.

The Prime Minister expressed his moral support for all Thai officials at foreign missions, advising them to take care of their health, while expressing appreciation for their devotion and sacrifice as representatives of the country, assisting Thai nationals overseas. He again praised the work of all officials since the COVID-19 outbreak, in helping repatriate some 60,000 Thai nationals so far from cities urges carearound the world, back to their homeland.

First sensible thing he has said. Take care of those with the virus. It can't be helped in contracting it and while keeping others safe, they should not be treated like social outcasts and put into leper style communities.

I would have thought that people working in embassies overseas would receive A1 treatment for any sickness. don't need orders from the general!

Good remarks from Khun Prayut. Thai's working overseas are obviously a priority as well.

Sorry Steven, he just cares only about himself, making that statement to make it appear like he cares, is just more BS.

He had top order others to take care of the official !!!

Surely they would have done that anyway, without his interference.

Really? The Prime Minister has expressed his concern for someone who works for the government and will be looked after better than any pleb.

How about expressing concern for everyone who contracted the virus, and those who died. You don't care, you only like to appear to care.

‘Thai national Ittipol Sukpaen, who disappeared in June 2016; Wutthipong “Ko Tee” Kottham-makhun, who Amnesty said disappeared after being abducted by Thai-speaking masked men in July 2017 (whose abduction the Lao authorities confirmed they had not investigated); Surachai Danwattananusorn, who disappeared after being abducted in Vientiane in December 2018 together with Chatcharn Buppawan and Kraidej Lulert, whose corpses were found in the Mekong river in Thailand in December 2018. And now Wanchalearm.’

So confused.....
